The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office mission is to protect the rights and dignity of all citizens. With Courage, Honor, and Integrity; proactively and in partnership with our community, we will strive to identify criminal activity, preserve the peace, and provide a safe environment for all. We will bring violators to justice and intervene when unsafe situations that could be harmful to the citizens of Pulaski County are observed or detected through investigative efforts.
As a Law Enforcement Officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all persons to liberty, equality and justice.
I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in though and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.
I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminal, I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities.
I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession:
It is interesting to me that in 204 years there have been 46 Sheriffs in Pulaski County. That includes one, P.K. Ridley who died in office after just 5 months from June through November 1919. The first Sheriff was Lewis Holland. He held the office from the creation of the county in December 1808 until November of the of the following year. I wonder why.
I will publish a list of all Sheriffs since 1809 in another area of this site. If you are a decendant or relative of any of them I would appreciate it if you would contact me. I would like to dedicate a page to all past Sheriffs, and as many Deputies as I can get information on. Pictures would be great!
Mile Branch Park
There have been considerable improvements made at Mile Branch Park off the lower end of S. Jackson. Many know this area as the old State Park or the COunty Landing.
This area is for the public use however; a FREE permit IS required if you want to have a large gathering of people or occupy the pavillions. This is free but the permit requirement is in place to insure there will be no quarrels concerning who should be there at any given time.
There are a number of local ordinances have been instigated. Read all the signs posted and be aware.
This is a nice spot to get together now so let's all work together to keep it clean, and make it a good place to take you're family. READ the signs posted all over and if you have any questions after that call the Sheriffs Office at 478-783-1521. ENJOY!
